FELIX'S ULTIMATE WEEKLY BAND RECS
Week 23 27/02/25
Sloppy Jane
The first band to record an entire album in a cave, 200ft below ground. Origianlly, it was meant to be recorded on The Great Stalacpipe Organ which many songs were record on in the 1930s and 40s but they could not get permission so a different cave had to suffice.

If deep neo synth pop was a genre that would be No Decay. I think their quite funky but I onyl ever really listen to one song.

Unimagined
A theatrical metal band that existed for a few years and released five songs. I'm so sad I'll never get to see them live. I genuinely believe their song Lemons and Sodomy is one of the greatest songs of all time and unfortunately the members moved onto less impressive but more popular bands like The Funeral Portrait.

New London Fire
A New Jersey pop/indie band with David Debiak. I've been a long time fan of David as he's been part of Electric Century with Mikey Way of My Chemical Romance and Sleep Station. Their sound is very unique with influences like Sam Cooke and Johnny Cash but I swear there's Pink Floyd as well.

Acid Cherry
A female punk band from Meanjin (Brisbane) Australia. I saw them live last month and have really stuck with me since. They're filled with rage and very talented even though they were down a member when I saw them.

Careful Gaze
I would desrcibe them as a post hardcore band and at times a 5th wave emo band. Some songs are very heavy and others not so much. I've been listening to them since 2019 when they released their first album, You Too Will Rest, and they have been consistently releasing music since. I once recommended one their songs to a friend. That friend has not talked to me since lmao.

Salem (British Punk Band)
There are few bands by the name of Salem but this one formed in 2019 and Will Gould (of Creeper) is the lead singer. Originally the five songs were never meant to be released but during covid when Creeper was ot able to tour they released the five songs under Salem as an EP and later released a second 5 song EP and embarked on touring. One of their songs also appears in the Scream 5.

As Sirens Fall
They are an alternative rock band from the UK and the lead singer, Mikey, reminds me of Billy Joe Armstrong. I discovered them in 2020 duing covid when I spent all my time online talking to people on the other side of the globe. The woman that recommended them to me lived in the same area they were from and saw them live a few times.

Worriers
An amazing punk band, with main singer/songwriter Lauren Denitzio. They mainly sing about love, heartbreak, gender identity and the end of the world. While they are punk they mix things up with the occassional sombre ballad or acoustic song. I have their 2015 album, Imaginary Life, on CD and it's one of my absolute favourites!
